Mühlkeller: Held and Elefant

Polar Summer is back with two new Videos

I know it has been a while since I last made a post. But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t have any shows. I had two in the past 4 months, one in October and the other in November. One was at Mühlkeller where a friend recorded “Held” and “Elefant” (check them out at the bottom of this post).

Another show at Mühlkeller: How a sinking mic left me unimpressed

I was at open stage night at Mühlkeller for the second time now. It was fun. Someone recorded it, which is why you can now watch it on Youtube. I really enjoy singing there. The atmosphere and the people are great. I can also recommend Mühlstraße e.V. ‘s other events. It is a unique location.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the videos (bottom of this post). You will probably notice how the mic sank in “Elefant”. Well… when it comes to interrupting a song, I really don’t like to do it, especially as the cons definitely outweighed the pros in this case due to the small location. People could hear me perfectly. So I continued, probably to the technician’s amazement. But hey, that is what I learned in school. Whether it was performing in the choir, by myself in front of the class (playing the flute or singing) or on stage during a play, I learned it is the best thing to continue if possible. I am 100% sure if I had been on a large outdoor stage, I would have decided otherwise, but in that show it seemed like a good option. Comment if you agree or disagree.

Life in Reudnitz + Open Stage at Mühlkeller e.V.

I have been living in Reudnitz for 2 months now. It is full of inspiration. I have already written 2 songs at least and a couple of poems. And I know there is more to come. Also, I can’t really wait to explore all of the tiny stores around here. The other week I discovered a delicious pizza place. They bake them in their stone oven and sell them for 3.50€. A M A Z I NG. In general, this area is really authentic. The people living make it that way. Reudnitz is a large district of Leipzig. It has really become an epicenter for students in the most recent years. As a result, a lot of hipster cafés and bars have been starting to emerge. Yet, the stores that I am talking about are traditional stores that have been around for decades. I can’t wait for exams to be over.
Almost every day I pass the Sternburg brewery one my way to Uni. One day I noticed that I often see a couple of youth hanging out around a house right on the other side of the brewery. Another day (when there wasn’t anybody lingering) I stopped and found out it was a “soziokulturelles Zentrum” (social cultural center) and that they actually have a program for each month. That’s when I read about their open stage nights. I instantly signed up when I was home.
So Thursday was kind of my Reudnitz premiere. I not only played here for the first time, but I also played my two latest songs. And they were “born” in Reudnitz. So kind of original.
Great thanks to the person who took a video of it all. I spent the last few hours cutting it and uploading the two videos to YouTube. Maybe a teaser for what’s to come this summer.

Also great thanks to Mühlstraße e.V. for hosting this event. I will be back for sure!

What a show at FaRaPhy-Sommerfest!

I can hardly believe it’s almost been a week. It was a great show! The weather was good and even my allergies left me alone (I was soooo worried I would end up sneezing myself to death).
I think that I even played a litte over 45min. Most definitely do I want to be on more stages. If you haven’t seen me, come to Mühlstraße e.V. on June 30th. Oh and, just in case you wonder, I didn’t play “Ich hab alles”, “Seele” and “Alive”, but I played “Gedanken”. After the show, my head was as red as a strawberry, I also noticed that the same happened to the artists that came after me. Performing isn’t just standing there and singing your song. It is really about putting all you got into the time you are giving. As for me, it’s also about sharing what I have created. My music is like a piece of me and of course it is nice to sit on my couch. But sharing it with others definitely has a higher purpose and responsibility.

Thank you FaRaPhy for letting me play at your amazing Sommerfest. I would love to be back next year. And the ice cream was AMAZING. A video of “Gedanken” is going to come soon.
Here are two photos of me on stage and the stage itself, just to give you an impression.
